Therrik the Bold

-----Therrik the Bold-----

The time has come to drop my shield
My broken helm, this axe I wield.
Was I once called Therrik the Bold?
For that name I've grown too old.
The grand adventure, it is long gone
In a bard's tale they sing my song.
Centuries have past since we won back our home
Since that day I've held my throne.
The goblins came, we pushed them back
And crushed them all with our attack.
Then ogres marched, we met them too
The war was long, but victory true.
When the dark elves crawled in through our mines
Their clerics tried to rule my mind
But I was strong, my axe was keen
Defeat enraged their Spider Queen.

*Chorus*
Glory's now a memory
Of days when I was the great king
Our mountain tall and full of pride
Lords and bards and wizards ride
To gaze upon our famous hall
Until the Horde induced its fall.

Since my death I've searched the mines
Dreaming of a way to die
Eternity and cruel fate
Have bound my soul within the gate.
Orcs and goblins fill the keep
Everyday inside I weep.
In my youth they'd have been trapped
But in our glory we all napped.
My ghostly curse I can't amend
Til dwarves stand tall in the keep again.

*Chorus*
Glory's now a memory
Of days when I was the great king
Our mountain tall and full of pride
Lords and bards and wizards ride
To gaze upon our famous hall
Until the Horde induced its fall.

Two hundred years I do assume
Before the horns broke through the gloom
The dark things shuffled through the night
To find those who would cross the blight.
And through the halls I to did run
For the horns were dwarven ones.
As I emerged into the fray
The Horde was strong, and dwarves dismayed.
But in their presence I grew strong
And to them I sent my song

*Chorus*
Glory's now a memory
Of days when I was the great king
Our mountain tall and full of pride
Lords and bards and wizards ride
To gaze upon our famous hall
Until the Horde induced its fall.

And as their hearts began to swell
Their blades grew sharp and more orcs fell.
As I led them through their rightful home
The shadow died, and fled the stone.
And when the final axe had dropped
Mirth emerged as the battle stopped
Then a dwarf he raised his blade
And triumphantly he said
"I am Lerrik, son of Nerrik, son of Therrik,
Great King of the Mountain.
Years ago we lost our home
But I've returned to take the throne
A new hope lies in all of us
To bring it back where it once was

*Chorus*
Glory's now a memory
Of days when I was the great king
Our mountain tall and full of pride
Lords and bards and wizards ride
To gaze upon our famous hall
Until the Horde induced its fall.

With his words my soul soared free
Rescued from my misery
I hope to hear the songs they sing
About Lerrick the Brave, who now is King.
